Dear __________,

Tell the individual why you are taking the opportunity to write this letter.  Make the letter as personal as possible.  It is important to discuss your personal experiences with declining deer numbers, why it is important for Kansas to maintain a deer herd with huntable numbers, why deer hunting is important to you, your family and your community.

If you are concerned about the quality of bucks tell them that the State of Kansas needs to dramatically decrease the number of permits they issue (especially Any Whitetail and Any Deer).  If you are concerned with mule deer numbers explain to them that the State of Kansas needs to decrease the number of or do away with permits that allow mule deer doe harvest (Anterless Only, Any Deer).  If you are concerned about deer numbers in general, suggest that the State of Kansas needs to decrease the number of permits (buck and doe) in your area.

Show them that you have educated yourself about declining deer numbers by throwing in a few facts pertinent to your area.  For example;  if you live in Western Kansas, mention that units 1, 2, and 17 have the lowest deer densities in Kansas.  Thank them for their time and effort in this important matter.  Remember that these people are constantly being bombarded with anti-deer pressures.  Show them your passion in this issue and make your point with clarity and purpose.

Sincerely,

Concerned Hunter/Landowner
